- OTOH (ON THE ONE HAND) (2016) – Premiere of a 2-channel, 4K work in a solo show in Chelsea’s LEONOVICH GALLERY, curated by Elga Wimmer. Also included WEAPONIZED BEAUTY, TS3, and MONUMENTS IN THE EYE OF THE STORM.

- ARTIST’S TALK – JOHN ZIEMAN VIDEO ART 1977-2022 in the SOUTHAMPTON ARTS CENTER theater. Lecture / presentation of excerpts of 13 of John Zieman’s video art works w/ commentary, from 1977 – 2022, shown in only 55 mins.
- “EAST END ARTISTS: Then & Now” – Group Show – EN PLEIN AIR (2022). Premiere of a 4K video work, w/ music by John Petersen. At MM Fine Art, Southampton NY.
- “TECHSPRESSIONISM” Group Show – 3 VARIATIONS ON A POEM (1979). Video Art installation featuring multiple CRTs accompanied by Zieman’s custom-built video synthesizer, at SOUTHAMPTON ARTS CENTER.
2021
- VENICE, IT / SOUTHAMPTON RECEPTION – Paul Miller (AKA DJ Spooky), Peder Anker, and John Zieman present their separate creative works, which were also being shown in Venice IT, due to Covid travel restrictions.
- VENICE INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR – TIME SUITE exhibited in the Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello.
2020
- RELEASE OF VINYL LP – “JOHN ZIEMAN New York City 1980-1984“
Archival Art Music album of 11 original tracks, written, performed, produced & mixed by John Zieman, in that era. LP produced by “confuso editions”; also streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, etc.

- SAVAGE NATURE Gallery Show – Premiere of PARADISE/PROGRESS, also showing two versions of MOUSEYFESTO, and WEAPONIZED BEAUTY exhibited with paintings by Melinda Hackett, at Peter Marcelle Projects, Southampton NY.

2009
- BRIDGE ART FAIR NY – TIMESUITE – Premiere solo installation. 19’ wide, cinema-style projection was underwritten by Sony Corp. Partial production equipment grant provided by Arri Corp. Music by John Petersen.
- MEGAN RILEY PROJECTS – Private screenings of TIME SUITE and FIRST DREAM outdoors at W Hotel during Miami art fairs week.
2003
- VISION INTO ART: DEMOCRAZY – Lincoln Center debut of a new video art work. A collaboration with composer Nico Muhly, who performs his score live to video projection onstage, on a nationwide concert tour.
1998
- THE LIFE GAME – AXIS THEATER, NYC – Creating a new theater work with acting
ensemble. Director and Editor for the video component, which was projected stage center,
and provided the only linear story structure for the dreamlike show.
1995
- HEAVEN – DIRECTOR DIANE KEATON – Zieman is commissioned to compose, perform, and record a musical score for this feature film trailer.
1987
- DAMNATION OF FAUST: CHARMING LANDSCAPE – Working with video artist Dara Birnbaum as Post-Production Collaboration on her art work.
1986
- NEW PORTRAITURE group show – PORTRAIT OF A STATE OF MIND – Zieman’s video art self-portrait debuts in a group show at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
1984
- GOOD EVENING MR. ORWELL – Collaborated with video artist Nam June Paik on the first international satellite “installation” on New Years Day, 1984. The live video performance event connected performers & live audiences in NY, Paris, Germany, and Tokyo live via satellite. Broadcast live internationally.
1983
- THE AMERICAN CENTER, Paris and KUNST ACADEMIE, Dusseldorf. Zieman’s solo video art lecture tour, showing video works and demonstrating his custom-built video synthesizer.
- DAMNATION OF FAUST: EVOCATION – Working with video artist Dara Birnbaum as Post-Production Director, Editor and also Composer.
1982
- ANTHOLOGY FILM ARCHIVES – THREAT, included in an evening presenting experimental videos and films in their theater.
1981
- MUDD CLUB, NYC – Zieman’s video art works were screened for one hour, including his video synthesizer footage, as the opening act for video artist Nam June Paik’s performance.
1980
- FIRST NIGHT 1980 – A live multi-media performance event at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, on New Year’s Eve, 1980. Multiple monitors displayed mixes & sub-mixes of live video synthesizer. Multiple cameras captured live dancers and musicians. This event was attended by more than 4,000 people.
1978
- THREAT – Award winning, highly edited, colorized Video art composition blending B&W cameras, live dancers, video feedback, and rescan. Abstract audio composition featuring recordings of water sounds, processed through music synthesizer modules.
1977
- WINDS AND AIRS FESTIVAL – A live solo Sound Sculpture performance event, outdoors, featuring 150’ long tape loop physically traveling through the performance space. Zieman accompanies himself, playing over 20 musical instruments in a live overdub music event at UMass Boston Harbor Campus. Over 500 viewers.
